Former Punjab Police chief KPS Gill’s remark that Narendra Modi can not be blamed for post-Godhra riots, is important because Mr. Gill was appointed security adviser to the state of Gujarat in May 2002 when post-Godhra violence was just not stopping in Ahmedabad and some other parts of the state. Gill had extensively worked with people on the ground, local leader from various groups, and with entire government machinery starting from the top to district and city level police officers.
