Pak official meets Kashmiri separatists in Delhi

Srinagar : The BJP has slammed the UPA government for allowing a meeting of a top Pakistani official with Kashmiri separatist leaders in Delhi today.

"Shocked to see that the UPA government has allowed Pakistan PM's advisor Sartaj Aziz to hold talks with Kashmiri separatist leaders in New Delhi. Why Mr Aziz is given this opportunity when Pakistan is committing acts of aggression in the state of Jammu and Kashmir? By allowing Mr Sartaj Aziz to hold talks with the separatists on Indian soil the UPA govt has committed another diplomatic blunder," BJP president Rajnath Singh said today in a series of tweets.

Demanding that Mr Aziz should be stopped from holding talks with Kashmiri separatists on Indian soil, the BJP president further tweeted, "Kashmir issue is India's internal matter and it should be resolved through a home grown solution."

Mr Singh said that Pakistan has been trying hard to internationalise the Kashmir issue for many years and added that Kashmir issue was recently raised once again at the UN General Assembly meeting this year by Pakistan.

The separatists said they were looking forward to the talks.

"We would be interested in hearing that what kind of process and ideas they will apply. We want that India and Pakistan to cooperate, but our main focus will be on Kashmir," said Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, before the meet.

Kashmir's ruling party, the National Conference, too has played down the controversy around Pakistani official's visit. "It is not the first meeting of Hurriyat, a lot of leaders have gone and visited them," said National Conference leader Mustafa Kamal.
